New garden spots are likely to be found in two conditions: they are covered either with turf or with rubbish. In large garden areas the ground is ploughed and the sod turned under; but in small gardens remove the sod. How to take off the sod in the best manner is the next question to answer. Stake and line off the garden spot. The line gives an accurate and straight course to follow. Cut the edges with the spade all along the line. If the area is a small one, say four-five feet by eighteen or twenty, this is an easy matter. Such a narrow strip may be marked off like a checkerboard, the sod cut through with the spade, and easily removed. This could be done in two long strips cut lengthwise of the strip. When the turf is cut through, roll it right up like a roll of carpet.

But suppose the garden plot is large. Then divide this into strips a foot wide and take off the sod as before. What shall be done with the sod? Do not throw it away for it is full of richness, although not quite in available form. Just pack the sod grass side down one square on another. Leave it to rot and to weather. When rotted it makes a fine fertilizer. Such a pile of rotting vegetable matter is called a compost pile. All through the summer add any old green vegetable matter to this. In the fall put the autumn leaves on. A fine lot of goodness is being fixed for another season.

Even when the garden is large enough to plough with, I would pick out the largest pieces of sod rather than have them turned under. Go over the ploughed space, pick out the pieces of sod, shake them well and pack them up in a compost heap. Just try itUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-74200343435744764892008-04-13T06:59:00.001+07:002008-12-12T13:57:30.583+07:00SAVE EARTH AND MAKE A GARDEN (2)<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyni1qjjJfjzx91s6mD66g6z_8yZrRy97VhVcJmbN7fwhkgWI4kXMjsmCTHF9lukLpTZb3QpQt-ChQQB_90dnsQFXT45KOFWyFmMN_8d7ob5jj0ARCC_4TNlj0UPkArkO17EIbFgZVe_s/s320/plant_hand.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188513426695189362" />
Allright my friend, suppose the garden faces southeast. In this case the western sun is out of the problem. In order to get the best distribution of sunlight run the rows northwest and southeast.

The idea is to get the most sunlight as evenly distributed as possible for the longest period of time for the garden. From the lopsided growth of window plants it is easy enough to see the effect on plants of poorly distributed light. So if you use a little diagram remembering that you wish the sun to shine part of the day on one side of the plants and part on the other, you can juggle out any situation. The southern exposure gives the ideal case because the sun gives half time nearly to each side. A northern exposure may mean an almost entire cut-off from sunlight; while northeastern and southwestern places always get uneven distribution of sun's rays, no matter how carefully this is planned.

The garden, if possible, should be planned out on paper. The plan is a great help when the real planting time comes. It saves time and unnecessary buying of seed. Of course it will makes your job easier.

Well, (^_^) see you again next day...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-46820138820489228602008-04-12T08:09:00.001+07:002008-12-12T13:57:30.739+07:00SAVE EARTH AND MAKE A GARDEN (1)<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0SkmS7_0rWWleDM_0bhfbwvE8m-A5d0YQHZm4ZLDwysZpkrAyT8P-5AiLSlAV8xmPeHSidcQceDgTd_AM5y3P9zgB9rt2-501e3zZpaxHg8GibpxiF2L1DIcdw7hA3XK8gfebqMSXAIY/s320/Green_Garden.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188160579607455586" />
The first thing in garden making is the selection of a spot in your home area. Without a choice, it means simply doing the best one can with conditions. With space limited it resolves itself into no garden, or a box garden and small garden. Surely a box and small garden is better than nothing at all.

But we will now suppose that it is possible to really choose just the right site for the garden. What shall be chosen now? The greatest determining factor is the rising of the sun. No one would have a north corner, unless it were absolutely forced upon him; because, while north corners do for ferns, certain wild flowers, and begonias, they are of little use as spots for a general garden.

If possible, choose the ideal spot a southern exposure. Here the sun lies warm all day long and of course this is good start for your garden. When the garden is thus located the rows of vegetables and flowers should run north and south. Thus placed, the plants receive the sun's rays all the morning on the eastern side, and all the afternoon on the western side. One ought not to have any lopsided plants with such an arrangement.

Well, enough for today (^_^), let's continue on next day..Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-51643541884354066682008-03-26T06:25:00.005+07:002008-12-12T13:57:31.010+07:00Greenhouse Gardening For You<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLfVJt_xlqw9rSmX1W236DvrbAIu2E2P2_wNVuJIkvcGCjXUy8yG2T0lW4URZeKXlFQ3JR-tsVLUtFRhmON5rKxHwD-KaHQP_PYhRX7hLyyJqAy_gLLkIMoxmfy7zCn7S4d7IJYKUQpzk/s320/greenhose-gardening.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5181826676657235522" />
Long time no see guys. All right now. I will talk about greenhouse gardening.
Those who take gardening seriously know there are times of the year when you need plants to grow, but the weather outside will simply not cooperate with your plan. There are some plants that need extra heat, and the climate is just not right. For these occasions, greenhouse gardening is a great way to get what you need. Some love this for getting plants going before it is time to plant them, and that means they are well ahead of the game when spring has sprung. For others, this allows them to have plants that would otherwise fail when the temperatures dip too low.
The best greenhouses are the ones that have a great seal, and that allow in as much natural light as possible. They should also have tiles that vent in fresh air when needed. The whole point of greenhouse gardening is to let in and trap as much heat from the sun as possible, and there are some types that work better for this than others. Think about how you may cover up some plants when a frost is due. The greenhouse works in the same way, but works much better and stable. This is a great way to start your tomato plants in the early spring without frost being an endemic issue. The vents allow you to regulate the temps and allow in fresh air when things need to be adjusted.

It may take a while to really get the hang of greenhouse gardening. Must like gardening outside, there are tricks to getting it right. You can do your research, and that is always a great idea, but you should also make sure you take it one step at a time until you are sure you know the best techniques for greenhouse gardening for your particular climate. Just try it and save our earth with greenhouse gardening.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-59985143103744870512008-02-07T09:11:00.000+07:002008-12-12T13:57:31.229+07:00What is Green Computer?<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtZP1QLT8-WlH9tXnIhbvULNGbWes7Q2NjcGKIFplPtIQGelKRqMCzho8RMPa3xQnYl1Ocrh-90ZC_v69VzavNgWlB2LgxMOGy0Ic7lJJjSCVbVUu6vO2q4o-izz7PwJVfOZ2_MKYA23o/s320/green-computer.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164055961476993634" />
What is Green Computer ?

The computer that must be designed to only use non-toxic materials, to be energy efficient, and to have minimal impact on the environment in every stage of its life cycle. I did it. This is my first time I had jogging in the past 2 years just for exercise. I feel soo fresh right now. Maybe I will change the topic in this blog. How to save our earth and save our lives too :).

Now I realized too keep ourselves on track, we must have the fire within, we must have the purpose, our natural driven. Not only to save our earth, but to save our lives too In the Avatar, Zuko said that when he lost the fire inside him, he's getting weak and powerless. But when he find a new purpose to lives, suddenly the fire inside him greatly explode. And the new firebender master was born.

Didn't know what I mean? Just watch Avatar_313 here and find out the truth. If you live in Indonesia you're so lucky because you can download Avatar 313 there..

a few days ago I got my fire back again. I can feel the power. But I can't explode it well, maybe this is because I'm not sure again about the great power I have. But I believe along with this live I will get the true power in my hand.

So the one thing I do for saving our earth today is EXERCISE.
Why?
Because EXERCISE can make you healthy and if your body is healthy then saving our earth will be much easier and you can control yourself wisely.

Okey.. just do it and SAVE OUR EARTH!!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-43352897531038170752008-01-15T21:38:00.000+07:002008-01-15T21:42:43.617+07:00New LookOkey. I hope all of them will survive from Bojonegoro flood.

I think the Bojonegoro flood, or another disaster that comes into East Java are because the human itself, deforestation, land conversion and chaotic planning contributed to the disasters.

That's why we must save our earth to prevent something like this.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-30554589263070648142007-12-28T10:58:00.001+07:002008-12-12T13:57:32.460+07:00The Day of The Black Sun<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqk8RORDvKyiZB7KBOCGWYFl_EZAazdiZZybLpTktmCCYrIOn7oZZDiIXp6ENHwuatcwlLJ4BCY_leQQXhnpQs998oh06L42-Tz0wor9r3xKLErBHrd2zV99QjdwV-J0VmmHEnPqBd7DM/s320/surabaya_kota.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5148874214813168482" />
It just 3 days before the New Year. That's why this will be the special holiday report.

The day of the black sun, just like the title of Avatar, believe it or not, in my college hometown, there had been an error on the weather. I call it "The Day of The Black Sun".

Why?

If you live in Indonesia or East Java especially in Surabaya and Lamongan, you may consider that most of us don't see any sunshine since 5 days ago. The sky is soo cloudy than I had ever expect in 3.5 years since I live in here. No sunlight, it's rainy day, cloudy sky, and I can't go out hanging around. It's soo windy. And the worst is, there have been disaster in East Java city like Tulungagung, Kediri, Trenggalek, etc. Can you imagine living in such a place like that?

But thanks God, the weather is getting good along this time. I hope this will be over soon.

Well, that can be a warning for us, human being to keep our earth save.

Anyway, let begins our new year with new hopeUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-14054195854787241792007-12-20T04:34:00.001+07:002008-12-12T13:57:32.647+07:00Clean Your House To Save Our EarthThe headline "Clean Your House To Save Our Earth" seems so awful and make me lazy when I write this. Especially "The House" thing. I know that we as a human now can get a better place to stay than our ancestor had.
Now what I'm going to tell you is, the one thing that is so easy right now to do to save our earth is..
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuJG9eDiqBwIJ-VPARp-Rm_9cO7JmJN06vWjb3ySuXdXyyCil5_gR81DwPgYKae2-GbOamY4eXJwWdDpqv8zkvZsmTbM7IWODzS_tr92PDfUjeSxm8YZYaHBbeCKzWSQ6HhFdlaWOsDNI/s320/happy_house.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5145806508652196674" />

CLEAN OUR HOUSE

Why?
Because when we clean our house, we will live in a clean and fresh surrounding place to stay, when you ever learn about subconscious mind, you'll know that environment can affect our mind.
It has a great effects too. If you can control your subconscious mind then you can control your conscious mind too.

So It will be more easier to us to save our earth when we save our house first. What I mean with clean our house here is, you can clean your bathroom, you can groom your house, you can clean your garage and many more as long as your house stay clean and healthy.

To save the world outside, you must conquer the heroes within you first. I believe if we can make our house clean, that will be a small step for the giant leap for us to save our earth.

STAY FRESH and CLEAN MY FRIEND!!! Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-11262093494746932992007-12-15T04:59:00.001+07:002008-12-12T13:57:33.730+07:00Smiling Earth<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEginrATCS4ywpm1btYxMXnMGPb95ny8eclqtCJ5cwhBMwpwXca6Sg3VudOPtqzdaO812SX75_bQKw-85TAqRv1dtHKMY-fmbFiwfrFvh63xaF-NvgyRR8-JXBZJpi4woYmQYsiYDBJ0exg/s320/Old_Earth.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5143954540228997922" />

After a long and long journey, most of the human makes the earth like this
Look at that picture, just like an old man isn't. However, several other factors, such as atmospheric temperature and moisture, also come into play.
Drs. Gabriel A. Vecchi of the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and Brian J. Soden from the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science analyzed climate model projections and observational reconstructions to explore the relationship between changes in sea surface temperature and tropical cyclone 'potential intensity' - a measure that provides an upper limit on cyclone intensity.
They found that warmer oceans do not alone produce a more favorable environment for storms because the effect of remote warming can counter, and sometimes overwhelm, the effect of local surface warming. "Warming near the storm acts to increase the potential intensity of hurricanes, whereas warming away from the storms acts to decrease their potential intensity," Vecchi said.
Their study found that long-term changes in potential intensity are more closely related to the regional pattern of warming than to local ocean temperature change. Regions that warm more than the tropical average are characterized by increased potential intensity, and vice versa. "A surprising result is that the current potential intensity for Atlantic hurricanes is about average, despite the record high temperatures of the Atlantic Ocean over the past decade." Soden said. "This is due to the compensating warmth in other ocean basins."
This is a very intersting articles I get from the net. Besides the heating of an automobile by sunlight through the windshield and the namesake example of heating the greenhouse by sunlight passing through sealed, transparent windows, the greenhouse effect has been widely used to describe the trapping of excess heat by the rising concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
The carbon dioxide strongly absorbs infrared and does not allow as much of it to escape into space.
And also incoming radiation doesn't get reflected back.

What Happens to the 69% of the incoming radiation that doesn't get reflected back:
* 19% gets absorbed directly by dust, ozone and water vapor in the upper atmosphere. This region is called the stratosphere and its heated by this absorbed radiation. Loss of stratospheric ozone is causing the stratosphere to cool with time, which, of course, greatly confuses the issue of global warming.
* 4% gets absorbed by clouds located in the troposphere. This is the lower part of the earth's atmosphere where weather happens.
* The remaining 47% of the sunlight that is incident on top of the earth's atmosphere reaches the surface. This is not a real significant energy loss.

Well, what else can I say
SAVE OUR EARTHUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-84401807844509870652007-12-11T16:28:00.000+07:002008-12-12T13:57:36.041+07:00Indonesia Forest<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Y89XEFA15VLVFF12U7eliKtmCGaNkbGx5lbLvjv5UKpE9kz6-yPVwBIMp_JauSOyYesJW-Ivm_8KnEgJphxUf6aMC6mJZ9Z0A3Fac5GBbcwqICr5TU__cfqyBAARQNzsb3srSsNN8Q0/s400/indonesia_map.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142648984274649490" />
Save Indonesia forest
Never has the threat to the world's forests been more acute nor the risk of dangerous climate change so imminent. We should take our concern about this. If we don't take any action, large number of O2 will be disappear in the next few years.
In Indonesia, large forest fires periodically occur with an interval of 3 to 5 years, due to an unusually long dry season. It is well known that in 1982 and 1983 in East Kalimantan the fire-damaged forest area amounted to 3.5 million hectares. Smoke from forest fires in 1991 and 1994 caused disturbance of air and marine traffic in neighboring countries. Forest fire and smoke control must be the target of highest priority for the Government of Indonesia right now in the next 2008.
This is the endgame for Indonesia's precious biodiversity. Tropical highlands and polar regions may be the first to disappear, and large swaths of the tropics and subtropics will reach even hotter temperatures. The study anticipates large climate changes worldwide. That's mean we only have as much as 100 years to fix this problem, global warming could change our current world climate zones, which would affect where crops are grown and even drive some plant and animal species to extinction, all in the next 100 years. Imagine the world like that. Do you want this happen to your family?
We all can make a difference. Even if it just a little thing that we do, just save our earth. Let's campaign this theme to our loved ones, our family, our society, and our world.
Save Our Earth.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778787445038461768.post-18298453292900215312007-12-09T08:02:00.000+07:002008-12-12T13:57:36.993+07:00The World Without Global WarmingCheck out this great photograph I've found on the net. Reduce Garbage
Buy products with less packaging and recycle paper, plastic and glass. Save 2,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide per year. That's mean you have to buy more natural product or food like fruit and vegetables (fresh only). Composting helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the number of trips trucks must make to the landfill as well as the amount of methane released by our landfills.

2. Plant a Tree
Trees provide a microclimate and sustained moisture for you. Trees suck up carbon dioxide and make clean air for us to breath. Save 2,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide per year. Wherever you live, you have to apply this.

3. Buy Products Locally
Do you live in New York and going to buy X-BOX in Japan? Buy locally and reduce the amount of energy required to drive your products to your store.

4. Buy Organic Food
The chemicals used in modern agriculture pollute the water supply, and require energy to produce. Besides, organic food are more healthy than manufacturer food.

5. The region lies on the intersection of geological plates, with heavy seismic and volcanic activity.
If you live in South East Asia, then read this
Or if you live outside South East Asia please help us to stop the climate change.
Southeast Asia is possibly one of the most vulnerable areas in the global-climate-change scenarios now being put forward by scientists. Many of the region's estimated 500 million people live in either low-lying river deltas or far-flung islands that will be inundated if waters rise significantly. In Indonesia, many island disappear because the increasing of water on the sea.
Some idea of the damage that climate change could cause over time was witnessed in the tsunami that inundated and destroyed coastal settlements on Indonesia's Sumatra island early in this millennium.
(Asia Times)
Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, and the rest of the region will face a great disaster.
Human caused climate change is a reality. Fortunately, there are proven energy solutions we can put to use today to provide sustainable development and energy for all.
